i´m thinking about switching to win8. getting cod uo to work on win7 was (as i remember it) a hazzle but since i got it to work on 7, i´d like to think i can get it installed on 8 as well. any thoughts from the forum nerds concerning this?

The minute the official Windows 8 will be out (October 26th), my work colleagues will have it installed for testing purposes.

And since most play CoD, I'll tell you then.

We have a couple of PCs running Win8 here, but it's kinda clunky since it's only a Develper's release version.

When i tried it few months ago on a virtual machine, it didn't work (crashing while the map was loading). But i'm not sure if it was w8 fault, maybe my graphic card.

Just a question : why do you want to switch now ? i mean, it works well on w7 =X.

true, but i just like testing out new stuff =) i can get the .iso (prof. 64 bit) from work today (though i started wondering about what camp wrote.. could be i can´t activate it until later this month.. not sure..) and it just awakened the nerd in me to try it out..

on top of that i was thinking that lumia 920 + win8 = fking awesome. yeah, yeah i know. that will probably turn out false but wtf. it could be worth the try..

Yeah...very stable....very fast as well.

I turned off that silly Metro interface and I use it like the old Win7.

@camp: are u running the 32 or 64 bit version?

@fred: yupp. just want to try it out for a couple of minutes first before i buy it. all in all it should be an awesome phone but as the old fashioned guy i am, i want to see and touch the pig before they put it in a poke and i buy it =)

(--> idioms for dummies: buy a pig in a poke, just so everyone understands that touching pigs is not the only thing we finns do.. we play cod too=)

I havnt decided yet either! But its down to the iP5 or 920. Pisses me of that my provider wants more for the iP Mad. The list of pros and cons isnt helping me right now so Ill try em out this week (if they got the 920 for display) and make the choice by heart instead.

cod works fine on win 8 prof. 64 bit as well. (took a few hours to get a new driver that lets me use a resolution over 1024*768 on that weird mac of mine though..). now to just get a hold of a lumia..

so far so good! being a former android "fanatic" this is a great experience.. but also some stuff definitely needs to get used to. will write some more tomorrow (when I've stayed up all night tinkering with this) Smile

ok. been trying the lumia out for a couple of days now and i´m really pleased. probably the best phone i´ve ever owned. huge difference to the galaxy s and galaxy s2 i´ve had before.

- still some apps i would like to have that aren´t available (like spotify or whatsapp). not that big of a deal since i can live without them and they will come sooner or later.

+ about everything else

how about ur ip5? feels better than ur old one?

..and back to the win 8 discussion. u guys that are wondering if u should change to win 8 will probably want to wait a while. PB doesnt work so good (atleast for me). just get a "unknown windows api function [131124]"-message. after checking the almighty internet it seems that pb doesn´t support win 8 just yet so i´ll have to wait for a while... just so u know that there CAN be a problem with this right now (some has got it to work though..).

Isn't there a "Compatibility mode" for PB? to run the client in "XP mode" or "Vista mode" ?

hmm. tried compability mode but ofc. i put it on for cod itself. not pb... so that could work. not @ home at the moment but will i really find pb on my computer as a own program? can´t remind myself of that i would have ever seen it.. well. probably the .exe (or whatever) is found somewhere and i can make that run in compability mode. i´ll try this out. thanx!

check this jeebs

Uninstall PB from control panel. Reboot your PC. Then download PB services installer from http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe, [evenbalance.com] or go to your Origin folder and find where is installed Battlfield folder, then goto __Installer\punkbuster\redist, rightclick on pbsvc.exe file, select in context menu 'Propeties' and goto tab 'Compatibility' and check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: windows xp sp3 or windows 7'. Click 'apply' or 'ok'. And now just run file pbsvc.exe and install it.
Reboot PC after install.
It's all.
I use windows 8 consumer preview build 8250.
P.S.: If not work with pbsvc.exe file from origin folder, download and use file from http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe. [evenbalance.com]

it is for battlefield but change it for cod folder...

Btw , my dad has a new pc windows 8 64Bit so if I am with my dad in the weekend I will instal cod uo too and check if it's working.
