My game crashes

Since I changed mainboard on my computer I get crashes randomly. Sometimes I can play for many hours without a crash and sometimes they come often (alwways crash on Brecourt). I also get checkerd view sometimes (also happend with old mainboard) - then I simply go to graphsettings and change something and change back and the maps load and I start from where I was and no squares are there.

the message I get when game crash is this:

"The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display
driver and is unable to continue. The application must close.

Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/page/support.html for help.
Error code: 8"

There is lots of threads about it when I google but Im not a very comp savy guy so if someone can expain what I have to do Ill be thankful!

Did you already uploaded your drivers? Is your mainboard fully compatible with your graphics card?

I had a rather similar problem with CoD. I had to revert my video card drivers prior to a problematic update. I use an older graphic card driver now.

Dont know. A guy at work did it for me. But I had to reinstall windows and so.

I done that once when COD couldnt be played with the new drivers. But that problem is gone now so I dont know.

Windows posted a solution for me to update HP graphic adapter or something. But in the link it said the problem was in their notebook bla bla so I didnt do that?

arrrrrrgh! couldnt play five min before crashing today. and after the last one I couldnt even start COD before everything just went crazy. did a clean install of driver now so hold ur thumbs!

Didnt work. I think my graph card is toast. I get lines and dots all over the screen? What u guys think?

Well, after a quick search it seems that a lot of nvidia users have the problem =/.

The only official answer of the nvidia support is : "update your driver". Ok, nice, but all of users have the lastest driver.

But some players talked about "PCIe overclocking" here an example http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1881707&page=5

In brief : In your BIOS, change PCIe overclocking from AUTO to MANUAL and set 100 MHz

I'm not a computer nerd so i have no idea what is it xD, but there's no harm in trying ...

I had auto but pcie stood at 100. I changed to optimized to try something and saved. Instant Black screen and restart and nothing comes up now. Restarted again and screen is still black!

Have you still access to the BIOS ?

I took out the battery so now it works again. But it says there is something wrong with my graph card. Code 43

Got lucky today. Was looking at a new card in the store (150 € ) but didnt know if it would work with my mobo. So I asked a computer guy at work and he tells me that he brought one of his old 9800 gtx to work today, and I can buy it for 25€ after I tested that it works .

I Put it in (not bad for a comp retard like me ha?) and wholaaaa here I am

jepp. used to play with a 9800 gtx for many years without any probs myself so u´ll be fine mate =) welcome back! and who knows, maybe ur gaming skills will improve with the new card? =)
